Android beta

The BenchHand beta is being prepared.

We are getting the Android beta ready for a first group of woodworkers. There is no public sign-up yet. This page explains who the beta is for and what happens next.

Where things stand

Beta status

  1. Now

    Preparing the Android beta

The app has been through a pre-beta audit. Testing through Google Play is being set up. Nothing has been published yet.

  2. Later

    Wider availability

Shaped by what beta testers tell us. Not yet scheduled.

Who the beta is for

Woodworkers who will put it to work.

The beta is aimed at three kinds of woodworker. You do not need to sell your work to take part.

Hobby woodworkers

Get the fractions right, plan the piece and take an exact cut list to the saw.

Makers selling their work

Price a planned piece and, in preview builds, turn it into a quote and then an invoice.

Small woodworking businesses

Keep projects, customers and payments for a small shop together on one phone.

Taking part

What beta testers will be asked to do

A beta is only useful if it meets real projects. Testers will be asked to:

  • Use BenchHand on their own woodworking projects.
  • Report anything that is wrong, unclear or missing, especially measurements and calculations.
  • Tell us which parts of the app they rely on, and which they ignore.
  • Send screenshots, never customer details or backup files.

How to hear about the beta

There is no mailing list or form yet, so for now the place to check is this page. When invitations open, how to request one will be posted here.

If you are a creator, publication or industry contact and someone from BenchHand has contacted you directly, reply in that same conversation.

Common questions

Is there a sign-up form?

Not yet. BenchHand will not collect anyone’s details until the sign-up process and its privacy notice are ready. This page will be updated first.

Which devices will the beta support?

Android phones running Android 7.0 or later.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not at the moment. The beta is Android only.

Will testers get every feature on the Features page?

Not decided yet. Features marked “Preview build” may or may not be included in the beta. Testers will be told which features are still being reviewed.

Does the beta need an account?

No. BenchHand has no accounts. Your projects and records stay on your phone.
